MANDY'S TAKE
“At 8% apricot, this bar contains more real fruit than most in its category. The 36% oat content and solid fibre score (11.5g/100g) are other genuine positives. But there are four added sweeteners — glucose, invert sugar, honey, and sugar (mentioned twice)— bringing the total sugar to 15.6g per 100g. That’s a moderate level, but still worth questioning given the stacking of refined sugars. Add to that processed wheat, vegetable oil, modified starch, glycerine, emulsifier, and sulphites in the apricots, and you’re left with a bar designed more for shelf life than wholefood nutrition. Despite earning a 4.5 Health Star Rating, this is still firmly in ultra-processed territory — a good example of how the HSR system ignores overall food processing and ingredient quality. I would not recommend this bar as an option for kids.”

THE VERDICT
Small improvements don’t change the big picture. Yes, 8% fruit beats the competition and the fibre content is good, but with ultra-processed sugars, multiple additives, sulphites, and a 14+ ingredient list, this is still industrial food manufacturing. The 2. stars is far more aligned with the actual rating of this product as opposed to the High Health Star rating which can easily mislead parents into thinking this is a good option for their kids’ lunchboxes.
